I'm just curious how this series get slipped from my radar hehe. This hidden gem might suffer from repetition and unsteady pacing, but when it hits the right spots, it truly shines! I personally started loving after I trudged through the mediocre beginning (chapter 1 was great, but the series doesn't pick up steam until later). Some of the more interesting characters are forgotten or cast asideĭefinitely for fans of ecchi-based humor and low-brow parodies of fantasy settings. Characters with signature jokes tend to utilize them often + Side characters and a few of the villains leave immediate impressions
+ Cast interactions provide great comedy experience + Touka Scott is a great blend of the cynical wise-cracker, the sleazy pervert and the sadistic thug characters Average art quality tends to be sub-par +/- Character designs are safe, perhaps to drive home the parodies Suffers from unevening pacing, sometimes skimming over character development to get to the next punchline + Utilizes extra 4-komas to both fill out parts of the plot and provide more laughs + Has a plot that successfully guides the comedy into interesting directions + Successfully makes fun of fundamental fantasy anime tropes Leave it to the sleazy villager to kill mankind's last hope! I'll make this short, a bit-sized review of sorts, just to get the main aspects of this work. Together, the three of them set out as what just might be the most unsuitable party to ever try to save the world! Not wanting to be left behind, Touka's childhood friend Yuna Yunis tags along. While she can't revive him, Anri can at least salvage their quest by forcing Touka's soul into Shion's rotting body and dragging him along to Hell's Gate in Shion's place. Luckily, dealing with the dead is the specialty of necromancer Anri Haynesworth. Or at least he was, because the legendary hero is dead, having fallen into one of the pitfalls Touka dug. But fear not, for Shion is on his way to reseal Hell's Gate and save humanity! Worried about the safety of his village, selfish and perverted farmer Touka Scott digs pitfalls to defend against the demons.
Unfortunately, the seal was incomplete and has begun to weaken, allowing the demons to once again begin their attack. Thanks to the legendary hero Shion Bladearts, wielder of Excalibur, and his loyal band of companions, the Gate was sealed off and the demonic threat was vanquished.
